Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee’s Guru Nanak Khalsa College of Arts, Science and Commerce is among the earliest institutions of higher learning that emerged on the educational landscape of the erstwhile city of Bombay, now known as Mumbai. As a part of #WhySufferSilently campaign, a workshop on dysmenorrhea was held at the college which was attended to by students from Guru Nanak Institute of Research & Development and from Guru Nanak Institute of Management Studies.
The workshop started with a story narration on dysmenorrhea by Youtuber Helly Shah. The story will feature soon on Youtube Channel – Spill Poetry and on Youtube channel of #WhySufferSilently. The story definitely struck a chord with the workshop attendees.
Later, Dr. Ritu Palve, (DNB & DGO Gold medalist | Fellowship in Gynaecological Oncology & Minimal Access Surgery) busted the many myths & misconceptions on period pain that are prevalent in India today. With the help of #WhySufferSilently leaflets, Dr. Ritu also explained the symptoms, causes & treatment of dysmenorrhea.
In the ‘Ask Me Anything’ session, Dr. Ritu Palve answered the many questions which the workshop attendees had. Dysmenorrhea kits were also distributed among the workshop attendees. The workshop attended with the felicitation of Guru Nanak Institute of Research & Development and Guru Nanak Institute of Management for their support. The workshop was very successful and was appreciated by all.
