PCOS-related cramps are often more intense and can be accompanied by a heavier, more prolonged menstrual flow due to the buildup of the uterine lining from irregular periods.
Normal period pain is typically a dull ache or cramping that lasts for a few days at the start of the period. In contrast, PCOS-related pain can be more severe, and women may experience larger blood clots and longer-lasting discomfort.
According to the PCOS Society of India, PCOS affects an estimated 1 in 5 girls in India. In some parts of India, the prevalence of PCOS is even higher, affecting up to 35% of young women.
